Questions people ask
What does an audit cover?
First, I get to know your product: who uses it, what it's for and where it's struggling. Then I review it in detail with that in mind. You get a report covering the risks I've found, my recommendations and the next steps I'd suggest, in priority order.
Can you work with our developers?
Yes. I'm happy to work directly with your developers and anyone else on the team, at any stage of the project. That includes joining your internal sessions, such as planning, requirements workshops and stand-ups, so design decisions are made with the people building them. I can provide designs, prototypes and notes in whatever form helps them build.
Do you run user research?
I work with a team of experienced user researchers and other specialists. I'll bring them in and manage that part of the project for you, so you deal with one supplier from start to finish.
What tools do you use?
Whatever the project needs. For accessibility reviews, I test with screen readers such as JAWS and, where needed, bring in specialist accessibility testers. For design and prototyping, I use Figma and Figma Make to show proposed solutions in a form people can react to. For form-based services with branching logic, I build working prototypes in the GOV.UK Prototype Kit, so you can test the real journey before anything is developed.
